What's your
Sleep Score?
Somnr turns your iPhone into a sleep sensor — no watch, no band. It grades every night out of 100, hands you a Tier from S to F, and shows the one thing to fix tonight.

The problem
Your tracker shows curves.
It never shows the verdict.
The flat gym sessions, the 3pm fog, the morning that already feels heavy, that's cortisol and missing deep sleep. Other apps hand you REM curves and step counts. None of them tell you your grade, or what to actually fix tonight.
“I sleep 8 hours and still wake up with a puffy, tired face. What am I doing wrong?”
r/SkincareAddiction
“Knowing I got 12% REM tells me nothing. I want a score and something to actually fix.”
r/sleep
“My recovery is trash and I can't tell if it's the late coffee or the screens. Just tell me.”

How tracking works
Put your phone down.
It reads your whole night.
Before bed, start a session and set the phone down. All night it senses how much you move — and by morning it hands you a full night: when you fell asleep, every wake-up, your deep, light and REM, your efficiency, and your score.
01
Start & set it down
Tap start, place the phone on the mattress or nightstand. Screen can lock — tracking survives in the background.
02
It feels the night
One movement reading per minute, all night. Still = asleep, spikes = restless or awake.
03
Wake to the verdict
A decoded night with stages, efficiency, snoring and a score — plus what to fix today.
Two ways to capture
Accelerometer
Phone on the mattress. It reads raw motion for the sharpest picture of micro-movements and restlessness.
Microphone
Phone on the nightstand. Sound energy becomes the same kind of signal — and unlocks snore detection. Audio is analysed live and never recorded.
Under the hood
One movement signal,
a fully decoded night.
Both modes feed the same on-device engine — an actigraphy pipeline inspired by the classic Cole–Kripke method used in sleep research. It all hinges on one line: how much movement counts as awake.
Accelerometer or mic → one movement index per minute
Weighted rolling average (Cole–Kripke method)
Below the line = asleep, above = awake
Minutes grouped into sleep and wake blocks
Onset, wake, stages, efficiency & score
Self-improving
A generic sensor is generic.
Somnr tunes to you.
That sleep/wake line is different for every body, phone and mattress. So Somnr doesn't keep it fixed — it starts on a prior learned from everyone, then slides it toward how you sleep, and borrows the ground truth of watch-wearers so even watch-free nights get sharper.
Night one you start on the crowd-learned prior. Each night your own data pulls the line toward you — noisy at first, then confident. The weight w = n / (n+5) decides how much is you vs. the crowd.
Opt-in: your calibrated profile (never raw audio or motion) leaves the phone.
Thousands of nights re-fit the prior — watch-wearers act as ground truth.
The new prior ships to every app. Night one, no watch, already dialed in.

Smart Alarm · new in V2
Wake up in light sleep.
Never torn out of deep.
Get pulled out of deep sleep and you're groggy for hours. Smart Alarm watches the same live movement signal and rings the instant you surface into light sleep, inside a window before your target — so you get up clear.
Deep sleep is near-still; surfacing into light sleep makes movement climb. If that lift never comes, it rings at your target time as a safety net.
Daily readiness
How much last night
actually restored you.
Recovery turns the night into one readiness score, a glowing ring, color-coded from a peaked green down to depleted, with your slept hours, efficiency and running sleep debt right beneath it. Then it tells you which hours to protect today.

Your face
Your face keeps
the sleep receipts.
Poor sleep spikes cortisol and skips the deep stages where your skin and tissue repair. Somnr ties your score straight to what people actually notice.
Puffy, bloated face
Cortisol holds water in your face overnight. A low score predicts the morning puff.
Dark circles & eye bags
The first thing bad sleep writes on your face, and the first thing to fade as your score climbs.
Dull skin, no glow
Skin only fully repairs in deep sleep. Skip it and you skip the glow.
Slow gym recovery
No deep sleep, no recovery, no gains. Your Tier is your recovery ceiling.

The calendar
Every night, mapped
like a streak.
Your sleep calendar turns each night into a colored square, green for a high score, amber and red for the nights you can feel. Patterns you'd never notice become obvious, and the streak becomes something you don't want to break.
The trend
Your score,
night over night.
Progress plots every Sleep Score onto one trend line, 7 or 30 nights at a glance, so you can watch it climb, catch a slide early, and feel the streak build. Nights tracked, current streak and average duration, all in one view.

The glow-up
Watch your Tier
climb.
Fix the few things dragging your score and the change shows up where you can see it, on your face, in the gym, by 3pm.
Less puff
Lower overnight cortisol means a leaner, less bloated face in the mirror.
Real recovery
More deep sleep is more repair, the recovery your training has been missing.
No 3pm crash
A day built from last night's score keeps your energy flat instead of collapsing.
Private by default
Your night stays on your phone.
Audio and motion are analysed live on-device and never recorded. Cloud sync is strictly opt-in and off by default — and even then only derived night summaries leave the phone, never raw audio, motion or location.
